Finding Slack Token Manually (Without Extension)

1 min read

If you don’t want to use the Chrome Extension, you can manually find your Slack token right inside your browser.
This method works for any Slack workspace you’ve logged into, and it’s 100% safe as long as you keep the token private.

(Tip: Using the Chrome Extension is easier and faster. This manual method is only needed if you prefer doing it yourself.)

Before You Start #

✅ Use Google Chrome because this tutorial is written for Chrome specifically.
✅ Make sure you’ve opened a Slack workspace (not the main Slack homepage).

👉 Example:

https://app.slack.com/client/T08MRUHTQTD/C08MRUJ7CF5

This means you’re inside a workspace, which is required.

Step 1: Open Developer Tools #

There are 3 ways to open Chrome’s Developer Tools:

  1. Right-click anywhere on the page → click Inspect
  2. Click the three dots ⋮ in Chrome → More Tools → Developer Tools
  3. Or simply press Ctrl + Shift + I (Windows) / Cmd + Option + I (Mac)

You’ll now see a panel open, usually defaulted to the Elements or Console tab.

Step 2: Go to the Application Tab #

If you don’t see the Application tab:

  • Click the » (double arrow icon) on the top bar
  • Then select Application

Step 3: Find the Slack Token #

Inside the Application tab:

  1. In the left sidebar, open Cookies
  2. Click on https://app.slack.com
  3. In the list that appears, find the row where the Name is d
  4. Copy the Value of that row; it should start with xoxd-

That’s your Slack token 🎉

Fetching your Slack token manually isn’t complicated. It’s just a few clicks inside Chrome’s Developer Tools. But if you want to skip all this next time, use our Chrome Extension to fetch and insert your token in one click.
